his/her

    "i love you." she said, against his chest. he hummed, taking her in, ignoring all the shouts of the world around him. it didnt matter, that they were in the middle of a war. with her, the world was just a blur, a mere obstacle. she, was his world. but all good things come to an end. he let his eyes lift up, off her head and behind her. he was seconds too late, as a dagger raced to her back. his breath hitched, and tried to move her out of the way, but it was too late. the dagger embeded itself into her back. her body went limp, and she fell to the ground. he dropped to his knees, putting his ear to her chest. her heartrate quickly decreasing, he knew he had little time. he pulled her up into his lap, not caring about the red staining his pants and vest. 

    "hey, hey, open your eyes. keep your eyes open. no- no dont shhh everythings okay." he whispered, his voice breaking. she slowly flickered her eyes open.

    "it-it hurts. a lot." she croaked. he nodded quickly.

    "i know, i know. it'll be gone soon. just listen please." he choked out. she nodded, but closed her eyes. he could hear her steady breaths, and that was enough.

    "im so sorry. i should have saved you." he stuttered. he swallowed back some tears, wanting to stay brave. she shook her head.

    "no, no. this isnt your fault. i-i love you. ill see you soon." she mummbled. she was tired, oh so tired. she felt an excurtiating pain in her stomach, and then everything went black. her life has passed, but his, his was ending. he didnt want to live. everything was falling apart. his eyes closed, and he took a deep breath. he moved the hair from her face, all her features prominent. he slowly pressed his lips against hers, his heart breaking into more peices, when he didnt hear her breaths. he closed his eyes, and stood up. she had died. she was in a better place. but he was gone. he had left with her. and what was remaining, was someone she would never recognize.
